Speaking of the Qur’an.

Have any of you read through Surah As-Saffat? I find it to be one of the most interesting surahs purely because of the topics that it touches on and how Allah goes through and breaks down the lives of several Prophets and says “Surely ___ prayed to Us” asserting that all the Prophets were indeed Muslim.

Also it has beautiful descriptions of the lives of those in Jannah (as well as interesting descriptions of what life will be for those that don’t make it).

One of my favorite parts is when the people of Jannah are being described and they begin talking with one another:

[Saffat 37:50] So one among them turns to the other, questioning. -

[Saffat 37:51] The speaker among them said, “I had a companion.” -

[Saffat 37:52] “Who used to tell me, ‘Do you believe it is true?’ -

[Saffat 37:53] ‘That when we are dead and have turned into dust and bones, that we will either be rewarded or punished?’ ”

[Saffat 37:54] He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?”

[Saffat 37:55] He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire.

[Saffat 37:56] He said, “By Allah, you had nearly ruined me!”

[Saffat 37:57] “And were it not for the mercy of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth(to hell)!”

It just goes to show that when we find ourselves following in the footsteps of others and taking their word for things, questioning what we know is truth or allow others to coerce us into their way of thinking - we may be the ones ending up in the fire instead of the one looking down into it glad that we didn’t follow someone else to our ruin.
